The folks behind the Mario + Rabbids series and the lead designer of Red Dead Redemption have kicked off a new studio called Day 4 Night.
This fresh team, funded by Krafton and 1Up Ventures, is led by Christian Cantamessa (known for Red Dead Redemption, Shadow of Mordor, and Perfect Dark) and Davide Soliani (from Mario + Rabbids and Just Dance). They’re working on an entirely new IP for their first project.
The crew also features Cristina Nava, Gian Marco Zanna, and Luca Breda—all of whom were part of the Mario + Rabbids squad at Ubisoft Milan, with experience on titles like Just Dance, Ghost Recon, and Star Wars Outlaws.
“When I first got into video games, I realized their incredible potential to tell unique stories and create transforming worlds,” Cantamessa said. “Day 4 Night is about getting back to that innovative vibe, that pure creativity.”
Soliani chimed in, saying: “What we’re creating at Day 4 Night embodies everything I’ve ever wanted as a player—joy, adventure, poetry, and fun times with friends. It’s like a lullaby for my soul and a tribute to the magic and chaos of building worlds from scratch—a journey filled with triumphs, challenges, and dreams.”
The new studio will be operating out of Los Angeles and Milan.
Krafton’s head of corporate development, Maria Park, mentioned, “Day 4 Night’s pitch showcased a captivating story that really stood out. The game’s vision is both original and creative, aligning perfectly with the types of studios we want to support at Krafton.”
Ed Fries from 1Up Ventures added, “Seeing pitches is our daily grind, but encountering a completely fresh and original idea is a rare treat. This was, without a doubt, the most creative concept we’ve come across in a while.”
