A video recently went viral, capturing a tense moment between a Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) officer and a street vendor. According to Dang Wangi District Police Chief ACP Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman, the confrontation started when enforcement officers asked a woman to move her food truck, which was causing a traffic blockage.
Things heated up quickly, and during the scuffle, one officer ended up getting bitten. The trader was arrested and held for two days for investigation, later receiving a fine of RM3,000, as reported by Harian Metro.
In a subsequent TikTok video shared by @aatv.inforakyat, the woman, identified as Wawa, opened up about the incident, apologizing for her actions. She clarified that she has been a licensed trader since 2019 and has been in business for six years. Wawa explained that during the altercation, she was seeking a little time to move her truck because her husband had the keys and was not around.
“I was begging them to give me time, but instead, I got kicked and slapped," she said. “I just want to settle this peacefully."
Wawa recounted that the biting incident occurred when officers pulled her aside while she was trying to prevent them from seizing her vehicle. “I sat in front of the truck, and when they tried to move me, I bit one of the officer’s hands in self-defense,” she added, trying to explain her side of the story.
As she reflected on the altercation, Wawa pointed out that enforcement officers should avoid using force while carrying out their duties. She also called on authorities to allow unlicensed small traders to operate, especially during Ramadan.
“Where’s their work ethic? I know I was in the wrong for blocking a public servant, but that doesn’t give them the right to be violent,” she said.
